Ramadan Bulletin board

Assalamu Alaikum

I wanted to make this Ramadan special for $weety and make her understand the blessing of this month, so due to that I made her a Ramadan Bulletin board with 30 days activity for $weety. I know that the activities are time consuming but I thought this will be the age for it, coz when she gets a little older she has better things to do than crafts and activities. So I thought to enjoy the most with her before she gets five, Inshallah.

I wanted the board to be viewed often so I hanged it in the kids room.So here's our Ramadan Bulletin Board; Sorry for the pics, they aren't so clear.

The theme of my kids room is purple and pink, so I made the board to go with it.

The first chart is, the good deed chart ready to be filled with stars I hope so.....lol. So I said $weety this is your sky and its plain with a moon so make it beautiful with stars by doing good deeds and if it is filled you will be getting a gift, I think now it will work...lol.

And the other board contains.....;

The Fasting day cycle downloaded from IBB, I made it without the cover and added a peg to indicate the action.

Things that break fast is also from IBB

To count and color the days or maybe if she fasts will be adding a star sticker.

And this is the moon phase from NoorJanan, will be adding as the moon changes.

You'll be wondering what are the pegs hanging down??

These are the 30 days activity, for each day $weety would turn the card and will be doing that activity Inshallah. Its not a must that we should do it all, it depends on our day and $weety's mood. We do it or we skip it :)

Alhamdulillah we are covering everything and has done some activities so far and also skipped some, If I had time Inshallah I will post the activities in Ramadan or after the month.

Ramadan Mubarak

Assalamu Alaikum

Ramadan prep was going on and I thought I wouldn't finish and Alhamdulillah all was done in time. We made the banner and the Bulletin board. For the banner I printed the letters for "Ramadan Mubarak" in bold and we started to color, even Sm!ley was interested in coloring.

$weety has a taste for color...you can see it.

My young artist

Sm!ley's master piece...

And these are my designs and $weety thought I was crazy when coloring the "M" letter.

So after coloring I cut the letters, pasted in red and beige colored papers, laced it and hanged in the living room.

I was verry happy seeing my first banner looking lovely with the touch of my little artists and my hubby was surprised when entering home after work and wished us all with a big hug. Alhamdulillah!!..

A wonderful day

Assalamu Alaikum

From the day I homeschool my kid I always dream about a workshop for us, where homeschool children meet to share their joy, have some fun and we mothers get to have a talk about our experiences and see our kids get along with others etc.....the list can go on. But I only know Umm Aaminah and another friend who homeschool, So thought we three can meet up.

After talking with Umm Aaminah we thought to organize and Subhanallah, I was glad to know a few mothers who homeschool too.

So on Rajab 5th 1435 - May 4th 2014 we had our very first Homeschool Workshop at my home. I organized everything and Umm Aaminah was ready with a presentation she made which made the workshop a beneficial one. Some pics to remember;

Arrangements were done for kids to make cards from their own creativity with the materials given, while the presentation was done by Umm Aaminah for mothers.

I packed some goody stuff for the kids

And these were the things inside

And this is the card made by $weety

Alhamdulillah we had a wonderful day and the kids too enjoyed a lot, Umm Aaminah from Almah's journey have given a beautiful post about the workshop with details.

Happy Ramadan For Penpals

Assalamu Alaikum

Subhanallah it's Ramadan 11th, the first days are gone and may Allah accept all the A'maal we did on these days Ameen.
Before Ramadan we thought to wish $weety's penpal a happy Ramadan. I thought to make a card but $weety suggested the door hanger we did last year. So did it a little different painting by hand.

First cut the board and printed the crescent by hand

And then printed the stars by closing the fingers together

And then wrote the words "Happy Ramadan"

Decorated with small star stickers

And finally to add some sparks, I added glitter and attached the ribbons etc...

This card, she made for her new penpal

Wishing all RAMADAN MUBARAK :)

Planning Ramadan

Assalamu Alaikum

Click here to view the Activities

Last Ramadan I didn't have a chance to organize the days for $weety, I felt like... I missed a part of homeschooling, since then, I thought...wouldn't do the same next year. Allhamdulillah with the help of Pinterest I have planned Ramadan Activities for her, and only the preparations like  printing, cutting, arranging etc...is needed to be done . So this Ramadan...Inshallah...I think we are going to have some fun....I hope so...lol.

Inshallah I will post the done activities and say how did it go with $weety.

Ya Allah make this Ramadan important, beneficial, memorable and a blessed month for $weety, our family and all the Muslims around the World, Ameen.

Pistachio Fish Craft

Assalamu Alaikum

From the day I started Homeschooling, I also started to collect things that can be recycled or things that I can use for crafts, and specially anything that I can DIY. So in that case I had lots of pistachio shells that I collected, and planned to do a craft with it. The main reason for this craft was, $weety was not in a friendly mood on that day so this was to cheer her up.

Drew a Fish

And the pasting was also going with some fuss (She wants to do and then doesn't, but then again she wants. Oh my! I couldn't forget that day)

After the pasting was finished I let it dry for one day and the next day I marked the colors and  $weety was ready to paint (today she was OK:)

Mashallah her moaning and whining just turned into a lovely fish.

Arabic with Ice

Assalamu Alaikum

We did an ice activity with Arabic Alphabet letters. I filled a plastic bucket of water and dropped all the Arabic Alphabets in and froze it overnight in the freezer. When I presented it to $weety she very excited and asked "what did you do ummi?" and went right away to explore it without waiting for the answer.

Finding and naming the letters which are hidden and talked about how the ice felt, "very coool ummi!!!"

Then I asked her "would you like to take the letters out?" she said "No ummi that will come out". So she waited and waited and lost her patience, took a hammer and banged!!

She also chipped some ice with a screw driver.

And then we tried it with some salt on the ice

Subhanallah it was amazing, how the salt makes the ice melt fast and it also created ravines as it melts.

At last a letter popped out

I was admiring the effects on the ice made by the letters and salt, but $weety was so interested in taking the letters out.

So we tried it with water and $weety added salt in it.

trying to pull some letters out

Some letters sticking out

Finally all the letters was free.

When $weety takes a letter out she would name it and I would ask what object will start from this letter? Alhamdulillah she answered it all. $weety knows her letters very well, but I needed her to revise it with a fun activity going along without realizing that i'm revising, coz she hates revising.

Alhamdulillah I can see $weety progressing in Arabic. She is pronouncing her Makhraj well and is writing the letters in order too. Below are the homework worksheets given by her Muallimah. Once I explained her what we must do, she ran to the class and said me not to come while she finishes. I was like "oh my god I need to do a lot of erasing". After a while she came up with these.

I know the "Raa" and "Zaa" must be other side, but this is what she wrote and I don't want to disappoint her.

I was very happy and speechless, I was hoping up and down with excitement and gave a lot of hugs and kisses to my dear daughter who wrote this without any fuss and any mistakes (except for the "Raa" and "Zaa". Coz writing is not her thing, not at all, but Alhamdulillah what I realized here and learned with my $weety is for everything Allah has kept a time, before that we couldn't expect everything will come as we wish. All we could do is keep up what we do and raise our hands to the one who is doing everything.
